LGU-Cervantes celebrated Blood Donors’ Month
In celebration of Blood Donors’ Month, the Municipality of Cervantes conducted a Mobile Blood Donation Program on July 29, 2021. Bad weather did not stop this noble activity held at the Municipal Gymnasium in collaboration with Luis Hora Memorial Regional Hospital and Ilocos Sur District Hospital- Cervantes. The theme of this activity, “Give Blood and keep the World Beating” aims to promote blood donation as an act of solidarity that highlights the essential human values of altruism, empathy and kindness and to encourage Cervatesians to continuously donate blood.
Mayor Pablito Benjamin Maggay, as a regular blood donor, encouraged Cervantesians to continue being an instrument in saving more lives by donating blood as regularly as we can. Hefurther enumerated the benefits being a blood donor: having a free health check-up; knowing your own blood type, blood pressure and hemoglobin level; helping the municipality to meet the demand of blood needed and that grand joy of saving someone’s life.
The Municipal Health Office has intensified its campaign on blood donation and targeted primarily the youth who are eligible to donate, Barangay Officials, LGU employees anduniformed personnel.
Strict health protocol was implemented during the entire course to ensure compliance to COVID-19 standard protocols.
LGU Cervantes Mobile Blood Donation Activity is being conducted biannually in partnership with Luis Hora Memorial Regional Hospital with a Memorandum of Agreement. As a result of this continuing blood donation program, our LGU maintains its own Municipal Blood Pool which can be tapped during emergency situations.
